Some of Us Know How to Fly

Space Station Tour

When I first saw this video I was amazed, entertained, and educated (in that order). I loved every minute of this wonderful tour of the International Space Station. Still, perhaps the most exciting thing about this was that the woman who leads the tour knows how to fly.  At one point she describes sleeping in a weightless space station, in another she explains how space toilets work.  But, maybe the most interesting thing she had to say was that she  [ Read More ]

Our Story in 2 Minutes

Our Story

Now and then I am made to remember the reason for starting this slowly updated blog. Planet Wonder is about the New Wonders of the World.  It is about those things that happen all around us that we can so easily miss. Our reason for being is to tap you on the shoulder, to whisper in your ear, to let you know… “here is something you might have missed.” So, here it is: Our Story in 2 Minutes. I found him odd, but fascinating, and believe it or not, my cat, Lamont Cranston, LOVED his show.  He would sit and watch Bob paint, and follow the brushstrokes like there were something live to capture. Bob Ross (1942 – 1995) was a fixture on  [ Read More ]

Higgs Boson – The God Particle

Michio_Kaku

Science has been searching for the Higgs boson for over 50 years; finally, it seems, the search is over. While favorite speaker on the topic of physics, Michio Kaku gives a (rather) incomplete explanation of the discovery and what it means.  I encourage you to read more about his discovery.  But until you do, watch Professor Kaku’s video. If video does not work, try this link.
